Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly aiming to sign Franck Kessie next year on a free transfer, if he doesn’t sign a new contract at AC Milan, it has been reported in Italy. Kessie was strongly linked with leaving the Rossoneri this summer, but he has stayed at the club beyond Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
The Ivory Coast international has entered the final year of his deal at the San Siro and is yet to commit to a fresh deal; he has been mentioned with interest from multiple clubs across Europe. The Blues and Spurs were among the clubs touted with interest in the star during the recently concluded summer transfer market, but the Premier League duo didn’t make any concrete moves for Franck.
However, according to an Italian broadcaster Sportmediaset, both London sides remain admirers and are readying a free transfer swoop next summer. If the midfielder does not pledge his future ot AC Milan he’d be able to sign a pre-contractual agreement at the beginning of 2022 with a potential suitor.
The Italian giants had to witness two of their former star players in Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu walk away for nothing this summer and the board are determined to avoid a similar scenario with Franck next year.
It remains to be seen whether the ex- Atalanta youngster will sign a new contract at the club, and whether the aforementioned English teams will get an opportunity to land him as a free agent.
