Chelsea have allegedly shortlisted Charlton Athletic’s English ace James Beadle as a potential No.1 in the future.

With the Senegal international Edouard Mendy having established himself as one of the best shot-stoppers in the world during his time at the club, the player appears to have earned his spot in the side for as long as he desires.

But, on the same weekend where their academy products starred during a 7-0 win against Norwich City in the Premier League, the Blues are understood to be looking for the former Rennes star’s long-term replacement.

According to The Sun, the club have become admirers of James, who has already earned a call-up to his country’s Under-18s squad. The 17-year-old is yet to pen a professional contract at The Valley, departing Charlton increasingly vulnerable when it comes to attempting to retain the services of the talent.

While the Addicks are reportedly hopeful of receiving a transfer fee of £400,000, such a sum will not put off Thomas Tuchel’s side and other interested sides such as Brighton & Hove Albion. Elsewhere, Juventus are allegedly interested in landing Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga next year.

The 27-year-old star has only made three appearances for the west London outfit during the 2021-22 campaign.
