“I feel happy here” – World-Class No.2 centre-back drops hint about his future at Chelsea
German centre-back Antonio Rudiger has said that he is “happy” at Stamford Bridge amid speculation over his future at Chelsea.
Former AS Roma defenders contract at Stamford Bridge runs out at the end of the campaign, meaning that he will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with overseas teams in the winter transfer window.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are both believed to be interested in securing the services of Rudiger, while there has also been Premier League interest from Tottenham and Man City.
Speaking to The Guardian, the German international said: “The most important thing is that I feel happy here [at Chelsea]. I think if people look at it, they can see I’m happy.” German defender has also confirmed that talks were ongoing about a new contract at Chelsea, adding: “About the contract situation, I talk with the club. This is for nobody’s ears. It was how I said it would be after the Euros – there would be talks.
“There was a talk between Marina [Granovskaia] and my agent. We have the situation where we are at now and I have nothing to do with all the speculation. “This is not in my mind. I’m focused on what I’m doing because this is why I wake up every morning.”
The 28-year-old has missed just one Premier League match so far this campaign due to the back injury, with the Blues currently sat top of the table.
