Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri wants to raid old club Chelsea for the signing of a star who wants out, according to the latest reports.
The Italian became Chelsea manager in July 2018 following the sacking of compatriot Antonio Conte. He guided the capital side to Europa League glory but the 62-year-old tactician left shortly after the end of the season.
He spent the following season at Juventus, winning the Serie A title, before moving to I Biancocelesti in June.
Former Liverpool star Pepe Reina is their first-choice shot-stopper, but that may not last for long as Sport Witness, quoting reports in the Italian press, claim that Maurizio is hoping to take Kepa Arrizabalaga to Stadio Olimpico.
The Spaniard is now firmly behind the Senegal international Edouard Mendy in the Blues’ pecking order. Manager Thomas Tuchel has mainly given Kepa playing time in the Carabao Cup, against the likes of Southampton and Aston Villa.
The report adds that the ex-Athletic Bilbao ace wants to get back to his best and is therefore ready to quit Chelsea. The 27-year-old player is Sarri’s favourite to take the stopper role at Lazio. Sarri is keen for the club to seal a loan deal lasting until the end of the term.
