Jose Mourinho is readying a move for Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek as he looks to bring in at least three new players in January. That is according to Calciomercato, who say the west London side’s midfielder is an alternative to Borussia Monchengladbach star Denis Zakaria.

 Giallorossi’s main target for the midfield is the Swiss, and there are discussions planned between his agents and Tiago Pinto for the next few days. Die Fohlen has also received some interesting proposals from English clubs, though, so the Italians run the risk of missing out. Thus, Roma and Mourinho have started looking at a host of alternative options and Ruben is one of them.

The Portuguese actually handed the Englishman his debut at Chelsea, and Mourinho remains a fan of him to this day. There is also the fact the 25-year-old can be signed for relatively cheap, with the Blues looking for less than €15 million according to CM.

Ruben is not exactly a key player under manager Thomas Tuchel, and the London giants do have plenty of options in that department of the team. At this point, it seems he is just an option for the Rome-based outfit, but this could be one that picks up pace the closer the football world get to the January window.
