Chelsea can reclaim £68m for January transfer budget by hijacking West Ham's dream transferThe Eden Hazard saga has resurfaced once again. Should Chlesea re-sign Hazard, should we take that risk?
The same questions are circulating again as Real Madrid are set to begin negotiations to release the Belgian from the Spanish capital. The 30-year-old has suffered the roughest spell of football in his career in Spain. Numerous injuries disrupted his route to Madrid success. He inherited the number 7 shirt, previously worn by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.
He failed to deliver for the Madridsta’s and now they are ready to give up on him. Are the Chelsea fans also ready to give up on him? Considering that his options involve two Premier League clubs, I think we need to carefully reassess the situation. Injury setbacks are a complete nightmare. Eden Hazard, once the King of Stamford Bridge, now the outcast of the Bernabeu, has only made 11 appearances for his club this season - only starting four times.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Real Madrid are now ready allow the Belgian to leave the club and their asking price is just £21m. Considering that he was sold for £89 million, that is quite the discount. The question now is, “why should we sign an injury-prone Eden Hazard”. The word ‘sentiment’ comes to mind. I would hate to see him at another Premier League club. So far, Everton, West Ham and new-money Newcastle United are said to be linked with a move for Hazard.
How upsetting would it be to see a fan-favourite move across to our London rivals who just recently handed Chelsea a 3-2 defeat?
Or how daunting will it be to see Eden Hazard back to his best ability under a Newcastle team that could potentially take over the league with the correct investments?
These are all hypotheticals but let’s just brIng him home. Do we have injury issues within the team already?
Yes. However, there are other options for the Hazard. He can remain as a fringe player for the Blues, or we can send him on loan at the end of the season to a place where he can really enjoy his football again.
Besides, we cannot be too sure to write off our former superstar. He may snap back into form in the league that he is so used to. I would recommend giving it a try. What’s £21 million anyway? We’ve spent more for less.
