The London giants are plotting a move for Lautaro Martinez. The Inter Milan centre-forward is one of the best strikers in Italy. Argentina international joined the Nerazzurri from Racing Club in 2018 and has since gone from strength to strength.
Lautaro has so far played 153 games for the Serie A giants, scoring 59 goals and assisting 22 more. With ten goals in 15 league matches this campaign, Martinez is helping lead the Italian club to what could potentially be a successful title defence.
The 24-year-old striker scored twice in last weekend’s victory over Cagliari that saw Simone Inzaghi’s side move to the top of the Serie A standings. Both Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku have failed to establish themselves as infallible scorers at Chelsea.
It does leave a void in what is otherwise an excellent Chelsea side. Chelsea appear keen to address the issue and are believed to have set their sights on Erling Haaland and the Argentine striker. Erling Haaland is easily the better goalscorer of the two footballers.
However, the South American striker is cheaper and could prove to be a wise buy. Not only is he coming into his own as a footballer, but he has also proven to be the perfect foil to Romelu Lukaku. The duo paired up to lead Inter Milan to a much-awaited Scudetto title last campaign.
Despite the big Belgian moving to Stamford Bridge, Lautaro has continued to thrive, adding another dimension to his game. Taking him to Chelsea could add more bite to the London club front-line and also give Lukaku the partner he craves to thrive.
