Chelsea are reportedly competing with some of Europe’s elite clubs to land Copenhagen sensation Roony Bardghji. The 16-year-old Swedish winger is on the west London side’s radar after already breaking into his side’s senior team. But Thomas Tuchel’s side will have stern competition.

According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Ajax, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also interested in landing Bardghji. The forward began the campaign playing for Copenhagen’s U19 side but after four goals in nine matches, the player was promoted to the first-team.

Roony made his senior debut versus Aarhus two weeks ago, playing 65 minutes of a 1-1 draw. He was handed another start seven days later against Aalborg – and fully grasped his opportunity.

The player put his side 2-1 up in the first half with a long-range effort. Roony was born in Kuwait but plays for Sweden at international level. The left-footed ace has featured in four matches for his country’s U17s, scoring in games against Denmark and Switzerland.

Byens Hold will try and retain the services of their young star. Head coach Jess Thorup told Danish broadcaster TV3: “The new strategy is to give more talents a chance.

“But it is not the intention that see play only a few games here and then leave. These players have to want to stay here for a few years to help Copenhagen get great results. “If really big clubs come, of course, the finances will play a role. But I don’t think he’s ripe for a transfer yet.”
