Fabio Cannavaro has named a Premier League club as his favourites to win the UEFA Champions League this campaign.

All four English sides have qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool already sealing top spot in their own groups.

World Cup winner Fabio has hailed the strength in depth of the English top-flight clubs, while also backing the Blues to win the continent’s elite competition for a second season in a row this term.

‘I think Chelsea can do it. They have a great manager in Thomas Tuchel, and a very good team,’ the Italian told Walfoot. ‘Real Madrid did it three years in a row, which was a historical accomplishment for the club and Zidane. ‘But to win the Champions League, you need a lot of things to go your way. For me, English clubs are better prepared.’

The Citizens are currently the frontrunners to win the tournament, according to Betfair, with Thomas Tuchel’s side and the Reds just behind second-placed Bayern Munich in the odds.

In other news, Chelsea are reportedly being linked to Barcelona and France winger Ousmane Dembele ahead of the winter transfer window. The forward has struggled for match fitness across the past several seasons, with numerous injuries hindering his progress at the Camp Nou outfit.
