Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger will become a free agent as it stands when his contract expires at the end of the season. In the January transfer window, which has been open for 10 days so far, the German is free to agree a pre-contract agreement with any foreign clubs who show an interest in paying big money in wages for the 28-year-old. Alternatively, the Blues could use this time to offer closer to the £200,000 a week demands that have been the main stumbling block in negotiations to date.
Any departure would certainly be a bitter blow for Chelsea to take with Rudiger having become a key figure under Thomas Tuchel, whilst also developing a reputation as one of the most imperious central defenders in the Premier League. With that being said, football.london takes a look at the latest developments on Rudiger ’s future and the chances of him staying in west London.
Final PSG and Real Madrid decision made
According to French outlet Foot Mercato , Leonardo and the rest of the Paris Saint-Germain board have made an official offer to the German's representatives regarding a £6m move to the French capital. In spite of all the good things Rudiger has said on Mauricio Pochettino's side in the past , his heart is only in two places at this current moment- London and Madrid.
This is because, as Spanish outlet AS have noted
down, the man who first made his name at
Stuttgart has dreams of only donning the white
shirt of Real Madrid which just shows the task
that Leonardo and co. have to change his mind.
The report even goes on to state that Rudiger
himself has reached out to ex-Chelsea teammates
Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois to get their
views on what they think he should do regarding a
potential move to the Spanish capital.
'100% trust' from Tuchel in the Chelsea board
Despite recent optimism that what looked like a helpless situation for Tuchel and co. regarding the state of Rudiger's new contract could be resurrected, the German manager knows he has done all he has can to persuade the defender to stay whilst also reaffirming his '100% trust' in the Chelsea board to make the right decision.
Real Madrid 'belief'
Despite Tuchel remaining optimistic over the future of Rudiger, there are signs to suggest that the German will likely move on come the end of the season. According to The Telegraph , Real Madrid players believe that the former AS Roma defender will agree to become their teammate at the Santiago Bernabeu in the near future. He would be reunited with both Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois in Spain, whilst Rudiger also knows David Alaba - the Austrian joining Real on a free transfer from Bayern Munich last summer.
Rudiger 'opens' January talks
On the topic of the European giants, it is reported that talks have 'opened' with Rudiger's representatives ahead of a summer move to the Santiago Bernabeu. Los Blancos are not the only side to be attempting to sign the former AS Roma man, though with Sky Sports reporting that Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Italian giants Juventus are also in discussions. Of course, the German is now allowed to discuss his Chelsea exit with any foreign club, regardless of the Blues permission.

"I don't know if it helps if I take him out for a lot
of coffees, it might even push him out! I don't feel
he needs a lot of coffees with me," Tuchel joked
when quizzed on the 28-year-old's future ahead
of the Chesterfield win.
"He is a guy who needs to trust you. He needs to
feel the connection and trust. He needs to feel it
by minutes and actions.
"I don't feel Toni needs a lot of words, coffee
talks or invitations for dinners or whatever. He is a
top professional. This is what he proves and
nothing has changed. The talks are in good
hands. I trust the club 100%, trust in the player
and it is a no problem situation for me.
"Also, Toni can still deliver, he did a fantastic
match in a back four. He is super reliable.
Nothing has changed, the points of view haven't
changed and once something changes. You will
be the first to know."
Rudiger deal 'not done'
According to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Rudiger to Real Madrid is "not a done deal as of now", despite contrasting reports. Romano has also ruled out the possibility of Bayern Munich signing the defender because of his wage demands and also claimed Paris Saint- Germain are interested in his services. When speaking on his Here We Go podcast, Romano said:

European giants eyeing Rudiger
Ahead of the January window, the German has plenty of interest in his services. According to the Daily Express , Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are all expected to ‘jump’ at the chance to sign Rudiger on a free transfer. Tottenham Hotspur are also eyeing the German amid the uncertainty over his future. To this end, Thomas Tuchel is ‘pushing’ for the Blues to tie down his compatriot to a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel reaffirms Rudiger commitment
Speaking of the former Paris Saint-Germain manager, he has also had his say on Rudiger's future. He has maintained that whilst there is plenty of talk surrounding a move away from Stamford Bridge, Rudiger's performances have not been affected. Talking to Chelsea’s official website in November,

spectators. He is a big competitor and he is in
exactly the right spot.
"He is in the most competitive league, he is at a
club where he really matters and that suits him
