Chelsea's January transfer window has significant
importance following a mid-season dip, as
Thomas Tuchel looks to get things back on track.
With Manchester City pulling away in the Premier
League title race, Chelsea 's quest for honours now
orientates around the cup competitions - where
they'll be defending their Champions League
crown.
However, while new signings will be targeted this
month, it's outgoing business that is currently
grabbing the majority of the attention.
One player of particular interest is Cesar Azpilicueta, out of contract at the end of the season, and Mundo Deportivo names Atletico Madrid among the clubs eyeing his services. The Spanish side are seeking defensive reinforcements having sold Kieran Trippier to Newcastle United this week and Azpilicueta is of interest. However, the defender's recent comments, while not closing the door on an exit this summer, made it clear he wouldn't be seeking a move this month.
Elsewhere, West Ham are among the clubs interested in signing Chelsea defender Malang Sarr on loan for the remainder of the season, Foot Mercato states. The 22-year-old has been linked with a wealth of clubs amid his lack of opportunities at Chelsea, including AC Milan, Strausbourg, Watford and Torino.
Finally, any chance of an extremely unlikely January swoop for Erling Haaland has been definitively ruled out by Borussia Dortmund. However, the door hasn't been shut on an exit this summer - when a fierce fight for his services is set to materialise.
