Chelsea have joined the race for Lille striker Jonathan David, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes . The 22-year-old, who is valued at £45m by Transfermarkt, has continued to impress this season, scoring 12 goals in 21 games for the Ligue 1 champions. Fichajes report that the Blues face tough competition from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool for the Canadian's signature.
Our view: I really like the look of David, and it'd be a nice coup for Chelsea to snatch someone of his quality from the hands of Premier League rivals. It would be an exciting deal, and his arrival would undoubtedly force the sales of one or two other forwards, so it'd be interesting to see who gives up their seat in the dressing room. Coming from Lille too, David would be following Eden Hazard's footsteps, travelling from northern France to become an all-time great.
Chelsea striker Werner has been offered to Barcelona this month, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo. The 25-year-old has struggled to hit the ground running since joining Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2020, despite having enjoyed great success in the Bundesliga. Mundo Deportivo reports that Werner is among several other Premier League stars to have been offered to the Catalan side, including Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang and Edinson Cavani.
Our view: Despite whether Werner moving in the other direction boosts Chelsea's chances of signing Ousmane Dembele or not, I wouldn't like to see the Germany international leave this month. He may not be the most clinical striker in front of goal, but he still offers the Blues an option in behind opposition defences. Maybe they can strike a deal in the summer but not midseason.
