Chelsea are not in negotiations to sign Paris Saint- Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. It was reported yesterday that the Blues were interested in snapping up the 29-year-old but Romano says there have been no talks about a potential transfer at this stage: Chelsea have not opened talks with Paris Saint- Germain or representatives for Layvin Kurzawa.

It is no coincidence that Chelsea have begun to struggle since the injuries to Ben Chilwell and Reece James. With the January transfer window open, the club could have moved quickly to sign a potential backup but they have dragged their feet. Kurzawa never really looked like being the solution though. The defender may have played under manager Thomas Tuchel for two and a half years at PSG, but he only started 26 league games during that period.
