Thomas Tuchel has already proved that his ability to navigate the transfer market following the Africa Cup of Nations can solve Chelsea's midfield frailties. The Blues boss has struggled to contend with the growing number of absentees from injuries or covid. According to The Athletic , this left the west Londoners to rue their inability to recall either Conor Gallagher or Billy Gilmour.
Chelsea has since charged into January armed with Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has just returned from an ankle injury picked up at the start of December, leaving the Blues vulnerable in the current climate. So, with AFCON kicking off today, Marina Granovskaia must give Tuchel the green light to relaunch a scouting mission that brought him so much success at Paris Saint-Germain.

Gueye was a staple to Tuchel's success, winning the domestic quadruple and guiding PSG to their first-ever Champions League final.
Their success together sends Granovskaia and Abramovich a reminder that they shouldn't be afraid of investing in the wide range of exciting talent that is on show at the AFCON this month. Chelsea will be looking to solve Tuchel's transfer dilemmas this month. The next star could be playing in this tournament.
