Chelsea are closing in on a January transfer deal for Everton star Lucas Digne Ben Chilwell has been out since since November 23 after suffering a serious knee injury during the clubs 4-0 Champions League group stage win over Juventus at Stamford Bridge, and he went under the knife on Thursday. Boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed in his press conference ahead of the clubs crucial premier League clash against Liverpool that the star defender would likely miss the remainder of the season, meaning that the Blues will need an immediate cover for the Englishman And that has led to reports in the media that we are into the idea of making a move for Digne, who has reportedly fallen out of favour under Everton boss Rafa Benitez this season.

Now, according to the Football.London website, they are closing in on a possible deal. Everton have completed the signing of Ukrainian left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko from Dynamo Kiev. deal which could push Digne inadvertently closer to the exit doors amid constant rumours of a potential Chelsea, Inter Milan or Paris-Saint Germain transfer coming to fruition this month. The news comes after former defender Glen Johnson believes that the west London club should bring France international Digne in as an alternative option.

Digne has started 13 of Everton’s 17 matches but has fallen out of favour under the management of Rafael Benitez in recent weeks: ‘It would be a good signing, he’s a good player. For whatever reason he’s not playing under Rafa [Benitez] at the moment. He’s another realistic target,’ he told BoyleSports football.

‘I’m sure he’d bite your arm off at the opportunity [to play for Chelsea]. He’s not playing as much as he’d like, so that would be a good signing. He can play both sides as well. ‘Everton are a good side and they’ve got a decent squad, but Digne’s one of their better players. Rafa has clearly seen something and he prefers the other options. But I am surprised he’s not playing as much.’

It is a massive blow to have one of the best in Europe out for the rest of the season, it really is. So we would be surprised if Tuchel doesnt splash some cash in the transfer window. Digne has been brilliant in the Premier League for some time now and needs the chance to play for a big club like ours
