CHELSEA have reportedly made a bid of £33million for Barcelona flop Frenkie de Jong, but do they need him?
The transfer window has been open for a few weeks now, and despite all the speculation, all the rumours and all the players linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, Thomas Tuchel has seen no new faces arrive this month so far But after seeing his Chelsea side fall further away from winning that Premier League title after they lost 1-0 to Manchester City at the weekend, Tuchel may now push to get some deals done, and the latest name to be linked with a move is De Jong.
De Jong has featured in 24 games for Barca this season, but has failed to live up to his much-hyped potential, and According to El Nacional , Chelsea are chasing the Dutchman, and if they up their offer to around £42m that could prove fruitful.
And the reports claims If the former Ajax star was to leave, Barcelona would be able to call on ready-made replacements. Youth graduates Pedri and Gavi have impressed this season with another youngster, Nico, also rated highly by the club.
We are very shocked to see that Chelsea are linked with a midfielder this transfer window, as all of their issues seem to be at the back and up top, in front of goal. De Jong is a very special player that has become a key part of the Barca squad. Yes he has not impressed like many had hoped for, but at the end of the day, neither has many of those Barcelona players. So if the reports are true and Chelsea have made a bid to sign De Jong, he would be a very good signing.
However, Chelsea fans wont be too disappointed to hear that we do not believe this is a deal that will happen. And to be honest with you, the club have a number of midfielders already at the club
