Official Chelsea announcement made –
Powerhouse makes promise after
sealing move!
The President of Inter Milan has announced his delight after officially taking Chelsea ace Romelu Lukaku back to Italian football Chelsea paid Inter a club-record £97.5m for Lukaku, 29, last summer in hope that he would score the goals that would help the club win back that Premier League title.
He did manage to net 15 goals in all competitions – but he looked nothing like the player that dominated Italian football just a few years earlier – and he has now made a swift exit.
The San Siro club will pay the Blues an €8 million (£6.8m/$8.4m) loan fee, with the potential for performance-related add-ons. The Blues announced on the club website:
‘Romelu Lukaku will spend the 2022/23 campaign with Inter Milan after completing a season-long loan move from Chelsea. ‘The Belgian returns to the Italian side where he previously spent two years and won the Serie A title’
Lukaku appeared with club president Steven Zhang atop a building in Milan to confirm the deal:
“So we’re going to score a lot of goals?” Zhang asked Lukaku in a video posted to Inter’s social media accounts. “That’s what we’re here for,” the striker responded.
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
Chelsea will effectively be paying Inter to take Lukaku, even with the loan fee being paid by the Italian club. The Blues will continue to pay yearly installments on Lukaku’s transfer original transfer, with those payments set at €23m (£20m/$24m).
It was a massive mistake from Chelsea to bring Lukaku back to English football – the Italian League is made for him and we are sure that he will score the goals that he failed to do at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues will now need to delve into that transfer kitty and add a new striker to that front-line – they will not be able to win trophies without one.
and especially with Kai Havertz leading the attack But it will not be interesting to see just who Chelsea will try and sign – they have missed out on some big names already
