Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has reportedly met Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes to discuss a potential transfer swoop for the Portuguese star this summer. According to The Athletic , Boehly discussed a number of topics with Mendes including Ronaldo's future.

Ronaldo is reportedly weighing up his options as he is feeling underwhelmed at the lack of business conducted so far at Manchester United in terms of new signings .

The 37-year-old scored 24 goals in all competitions for United last season but was visibly disgruntled at times throughout the season.

Chelsea are yet to make any signings of their own despite being linked with moves for Raheem Sterling, Ousmane Dembele, Jules Kounde and Milan Skriniar in the past week.

Boehly is set to back Thomas Tuchel significantly in the summer transfer window with the new owner personally handling negotiations for a number of deals, including the imminent exit of Romelu Lukaku on loan back to former side Inter Milan.

Tuchel's squad is running thin at the back following the departure of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, yet the club look set to strengthen their attack first this summer.

So, if Ronaldo was to make the shock move to Stamford Bridge in the summer, what sort of impact could he have on Tuchel's side? Could the 37-year-old help the Blues win a trophy? We simulated the 2022-23 season with Ronaldo in the Blues' squad and this is what happened.

We 'signed' Cristiano Ronaldo for Chelsea

To set up this simulation, we used the Football Manager 2022 editor to arrange for Ronaldo to join Chelsea at the start of the summer transfer window, using FM22 to run the simulation. This is what Ronaldo's in-game profile looks like on FM22.

Ronaldo is still one of the best strikers in world football despite entering his late 30s. The Portuguese superstar has maintained impressive physical attributes late into his career, whilst his mental and technical attributes still better the majority of players.

Ronaldo excels in his Finishing (19), Heading (19), Penalty Taking (19), Technique (16), Anticipation (19), Determination (20), Flair (17), Leadership (18), Off The Ball (18), Jumping Reach (17) and Natural Fitness (20).

The 37-year- old tends to shoot from distance with power, attempts overhead kicks and tries tricks when dribbling with the ball. Ronaldo had a stellar debut season for the Blues scoring 23 goals and registering four assists in 48 appearances in all competitions.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner finished second in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, only behind Mohamed Salah (20), scoring 19 goals in 36 league games.

Ronaldo averaged a match rating of 7.22 in all competitions, ranking him as the third-best performer for Tuchel's side in the 2022/23 season, only behind Kai Havertz (7.31) and N'Golo Kante (7.25).

Ronaldo averaged a shot on target percentage of 47% in all competitions, highlighting the Portugal international's clinical ability in front of goal as every other shot forced the goalkeeper into a save or resulted in a goal.

At the end of the 2022-23 season, Football Manager 2022 put together an overall best Chelsea XI, based on performances, statistics and other metrics. This is what Blues' best XI looked like at the end of the 2022-23 season as predicted by Football Manager 2022:

Full Chelsea best XI (5-2-2-1): Mendy; James, Coates, Silva, Chalobah, Chilwell; Kante, Mount; Havertz, Ziyech; Ronaldo.

New signings Ronaldo and Sebastian Coates featured in Chelsea's best XI for the 2022/23 season. So, how did the Blues perform in the league and cup competitions after signing Ronaldo in the summer transfer window? Let's take a look.
