Chelsea are interested in signing Real Madrid left- back Ferland Mendy, according to OK Diario.
The Spanish publication reports that the Blues are
keen on strengthening their wingback options, with
the likes of Marcos Alonso expected to leave
Stamford Bridge, and Mendy would be brought in as
“an express request from Thomas Tuchel”.
It is believed that the fullback is available this summer. Despite being a regular starter under manager Carlo Ancelotti last season, the player is not happy with his contract situation.
The 27-year-old is requesting a wage rise, which Real are not prepared to give him. The La Liga champions also feel that, as Antonio Rudiger has now been signed, they have adequate cover if Mendy does leave due to the fact that David Alaba can also play as a fullback.
With all that being said then, Real are thought to be willing to offload the Frenchman if Chelsea do make a bid between €50m (£42.5m) and €60m (£51m).
