Well sourced Spanish journalist Manu Sainz has just said that Jules Kounde is “very close” to being transferred to Chelsea.
The AS writer says that Xavi Hernandez has spoken to the Sevilla defender, and convinced him of Barcelona’s project – but Chelsea’s bid is stronger, and Sevilla will prioritise their bid.
— Manu Sainz (@Manu_Sainz) July 17, 2022
Chelsea expect to close a deal this week, continuing their rapid progress in wrapping up deals following the installation of the new structure at the top of the club by Todd Boehly.
The move for Kounde has its roots a whole year ago, and has truly swung from looking certain to looking finished – and now looking like it’s happening once again.
He has always looked like a great option for us given his skillset and his versatility, and we’re relieved it finally looks like it’s going to be done. The sooner he can join up with his new teammates, the better.
