Official: Chelsea outcast secures permanent move to Atalanta Chelsea have announced the departure of defender Davide Zappacosta, who has signed for Atalanta in a permanent deal.
The defender joined the Blues back in 2017 and has since gone on to feature 52 times in all competitions. His recent Stamford Bridge career has been spent on loan with Davide joining Roma for the 2019/20 season before spending last campaign at Genoa.
Now, he returns to Serie A again – only this time permanently with Atalanta. Davide could face his former team in the Champions League this season. Chelsea supporters will fondly remember the fine goal he netted on his full debut in that competition. During that first season, he’d go on to make 22 PL appearances, battling it out with Victor Moses for the spot in starting XI.
Following Antonio Conte’s departure three years ago he became a marginal figure, featuring mainly in UEL games under Maurizio Sarri. This included a one-minute cameo in the final where Chelsea beat London rivals Arsenal 1-0. Davide becomes the latest player out the door at Stamford Bridge this transfer market in what has been a busy summer. Elsewhere, Chelsea transfer midfield target Saul Niguez is allegeldy closing in on a move to Manchester United from Atletico Madrid this summer.
Chelsea in danger of 'missing out' on former Barcelona academy star Chelsea are facing the prospect of missing out on landing Adama Traore as Tottenham Hotspur are ready to table an offer for the Spaniard, according to a recent report from Diario AS.
The west Londoners have been on the observation for a wing-back this summer’s transfer window, with the club also looking at a deal for Achraf Hakimi initially. However, the Morocco international decided to sign for Paris Saint-Germain instead, leaving Chelsea to scout the market for another talent.
The Blues have now been targeting Wolves star Adam Traore, who is known for his blistering runs. He featured heavily for the Midlands outfit last year as he made 41 appearances across all competitions and managed to score three goals and provide a further three assists in that period. However, signing the 25-year-old will not be easy as London rivals Tottenham have also been interested in landing the player with Nuno Espirito Santo interested in reuniting with the winger at his new club. Moreover, according to Diario AS, spurs are also ready to make an offer in the region of €40 million for Adama, which is the price tag set by Bruno Lage’s side for the winger.
Chelsea working to tie down £100,000-a-week defender Chelsea have opened discussions with Antonio Rudiger and his agents regarding a new contract, although he’s assessing his options.
The 28-year-old has become a key figure under manager Thomas Tuchel but is entering the final year of his deal at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea senior members were in the process of extending his contract last October ahead of a possible loan move in January but he stayed at the club to fight for his place.
It’s a fight he has won. He is now the German’s first-choice centre-half and has earned plaudits for his showings under the German coach. The plan is now to tie the player down to a new contract, but he hasn’t yet decided whether he’ll extend his stay, according to Sky Sports. Antonio will assess his options in the knowledge he could pen a lucrative pre-contract agreement earlier this year, should he decide to leave.
Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are among the clubs keen on signing him, although the Blues are hoping to convince the star to stick around. He has won the Champions League, FA Cup, Super Cup and Europa League since arriving from Roma in the summer of 2017 and is a highly valued member of Thomas’ squad.
