Chelsea left back Ben Chilwell is still out injured and hopefully on the road to recovery. He had been back doing some light running at Cobham and there is hope that he could make it back in full training in January.
However, his fate is dependent on a scan he is due to have in January to determine whether he will need to go down the surgery route for his damaged ACL or not, as reported by the reliable Telegraph Journalist, Matt Law.
Law has been speaking to The London is Blue
Podcast this week who posted the update via
their Twitter account, as seen below.
🗣 @Matt_Law_DT on Ben
Chilwell’s injury:
“The fact that he trained the other day a bit had nothing to do with anything. He was always going to do that before the upcoming scan.” https://t.co/ cy2IaSm7km — London Is Blue Podcast⭐⭐️(@LondonBluePod) December 23, 2021
As Law says, this will have an impact on Chelsea’s January transfer plans and whether they will be looking to bring in a backup replacement, or even recall Ian Maatsen, which is what has previously been mentioned. We will keep our fingers crossed for Ben.
